For nine days in October New Mexico hosts the International Balloon Festival! This festival is the largest hot air ballooning event in the world and is thought to be one of the most world’s photographed events! The International Balloon Festival draws hundreds of balloonists and thousands of tourists travel to Albuquerque to help create and experience the magic of this iconic occasion.

 

This beautiful scene is set as balloonist compete in a variety of events! Some will challenge their skills while others are designed to wow and entertain. In combination with the balloons, there are various musical performances throughout the week and a “Music Fiesta” on one special night. Explore the historic adobe buildings as colorful balloons sprinkle the Sandia Mountain landscape in a colorful display.

The International Balloon Festival is perfectly paired with a trip to Santa Fe, located just one hour outside the city of Albuquerque. This whimsical town invites travelers to experience outdoor adventures, a spirited art scene and delectable cuisine. Santa Fe’s rich history is felt at every turn, from the collection of 16th-century Spanish-influenced architecture to its natural scenic beauty. Saunter through the “heart of Santa Fe,” or as traditionally know as the Santa Fe Plaza, invites visitors to explore the iconic Spanish and Native American markets, dance to live music and engage in the friendly culture.
